Through funding by FHI360, Project Empower began its work on the DREAMS Initiative in October 2016.
The overall goal of the programme is to increase community responsiveness and improve service provision in order to reduce GBV and HIV risk amongst AGYW in eThekwini through community mobilisation and strong service provision and linkages in 12 communities across the eThekwini district.
October 2016- September 2017
7 144 individuals across 12 communities within eThekwini promote and sustain gender equality, prevent GBV and HIV among AGYW.
Effective post-violence care services are offered to AGYW who have experienced GBV and trauma and repeated assault are reduced.
October 2017- September 2018
3600 individuals across 12 communities within eThekwini promote and sustain gender equality, prevent GBV and HIV among AGYW.
341 effective post-violence care services are offered to AGYW who have experienced GBV and trauma and repeated assault are reduced.
Project Empower, through the DREAMS project, has presence is the eThekwini District in three (3) subdistricts, namely; North, South and West. We work in a total of twelve wards; wards 11, 13, 22, 23, 53, 56, 57, 59, 38, 72, 89, 90.
